How to Prepare
Step 1: Measure
Place the desired amount of dry bird's nest in a large soup bowl and get ready for soaking. To make a single rice bowl of bird's nest dessert, approximately 6 to 7 grams of dry bird's nest is required.
Step 2: Soak
|Bird's Nest Type||Soak Time||Simmer Time|
|White||4 hours||30 mins|
|Golden||4 hours||45 mins|
|Red (Blood)||8 hours||90 mins|
Use cool boiled water to soak the dry bird's nest. It is important to ensure that the bird's nest should be covered entirely under water in order for it to absorb the maximum amount of water and to maximize expandability. The soaking time varies depending on the type of bird's nest used.
Step 3: Sift
After soaking, pour the used water away using a sift or a double-layered filter so no bird's nest will be lost or wasted. High grade bird's nest expands about 8 to 10 times after soaked.
Step 4: Tear Off
Gently split the nest into separate strips.
Step 5: Ready to Cook
The soaked bird's nest is now ready to be simmered.
